I teach 5–12 band in Waterloo, Wisconsin, and I built PracticeXP for my own program before anyone else used it. I am not a company with an onboarding team. I am one director with a product I think is good and not enough evidence yet to prove it to you. Five is the number of programs I can personally sit down with, import a roster for, and answer within an hour when something breaks. Six would be a worse offer badly kept.
No card, no purchase order, no district signature, no invoice at the end. If it does not work for your program you walk away having spent nothing but the setup hour.
A call where we import your roster, build your classes, set your goals and log a test entry together. You end the call with a working program, not a login and a manual.
Not a ticket queue. You tell me what is broken or missing and I fix it, usually that week. Several things in the product right now exist because one director asked.
Whatever your program pays for 2027–28 is your price for three years, whatever happens to the list price in between.
A school band, orchestra or choir program, roughly 40 to 250 students, where practice already matters to you and the current system is paper slips, a Google Form, or nothing. Middle school is where I expect this to fit best, because that is where the practice habit is either built or not. Any grade band from 4 through 12 works.
Orchestra directors especially: I am a band director, and the string and orchestra side of this is the part I most want somebody who actually teaches it to pick apart. Orchestra is a real class group in the app rather than a band class with violins in it, and strings is now the largest section of the practice-resource library — but I am guessing at some of it, and I would rather be told.
A founding program should know what it is signing up for.
There is a W-9, a signable data privacy agreement, and written security and privacy documentation. Student data is isolated per school. AI features are off unless a director switches them on, and a district can leave them off permanently. None of this costs anything during the founding year — it exists because districts ask, and it is easier to have it ready.
